CompAir Piston Air Compressors
Piston compressor reliability
CompAir has traditionally been a market leader in piston compressor design. The current versatile range has a design heritage and proven reliability and efficiency second to none. Piston compressors still provide one of the most energy efficient means of compressing air especially for applications where oil-free must be guaranteed. Piston compressors are in a class of there own for low pressure applications such as materials handling. and high pressure applications such as PET bottle blowing and breathing air cylinder charging systems.
Pressures range from 1.5 to 414 bar g (20 to 6000 psig)
Powers range from 0.75kW to 420kW (1 to 560 hp)
Versatility
The CompAir piston range is a versatile range with uses as booster compressors, vacuum pumps and for compressing gasses other than air as well as the low pressure and oil-free variants.
Within CompAir M series and R series piston compressors come under the Industrial division. H Series compressors come under the High pressure division.
M series compressors
M series compressors are available in lubricated models from 0.75 to 22kw (1 to 30 hp) and a maximum working pressure of 15 bar g (218 psig) Oil free models are available from 0.75 to 4kW (1 to 5.5 hp) and a maximum working pressure of 10 bar g (145 psig)
The simple and reliable design of the M series compressors means that they can be supplied or installed in a number of ways including baseframe mounted, horizontal or vertical air receiver mounted, multiple compressors on one receiver and also with or without sound proof enclosures.

R series compressors
R series compressors have been in production since the 1920's with a policy of constant improvements in design and materials. many thousands are in service around the world, providing long term, reliable energy efficient compressed air in every industry and environment.
Oil-free 100% guaranteed
The R-series are available with oil free cylinders for applications where oil cannot be tolerated in the air or gas being compressed. Extended piston rods have non-lubricated packings and self lubricating PTFE piston rings run in corrosion resisting austenitic iron cylinder liners.
Versatility
With over forty models available the CompAir R series has a versatility to meet a wide range of applications. The product can be suitably adapted to perform in hostile environments. Additional instrumentation can be easily fitted to suit particular requirements.
The R series compressors can use a variety of power sources, including high or low voltage motors, steam turbines or diesel engines via either direct coupling or belt drive. Speeds can be adjusted to match compressor outputs for any specific requirements. The entire range can be water cooled with air cooling also available on certain models.
Long term reliability and energy efficiency
Hard wearing reliability under all conditions has been designed into CompAir R series piston compressors. Accurate manufacturing tolerances and advanced running systems makes the R series exceptionally efficient. Energy consumption is minimised, using automatic valve unloading to match variable air demand.

H series high pressure compressors
The CompAir H series compressor range sets the standard for heavy duty high pressure compressors for a multitude of industrial, marine, Navel and breathing air applications. Typical uses for these types of machines are in air blast switch gear, breathing air, motion compensation, engine starting, dockyard services, press accumulator charging, plastic bottle blowing, can forming, test rigs, tyre remoulding to name a few.
Versatility
The CompAir H series is an extensive range of water cooled, air cooled, multistage, 'V' or 'W' configuration compressors with a wide range of high pressure options between 10 and 414 bar g (145 to 6000 psig) to suit any application. The various models can be direct motor coupled or belt driven by electric motor diesel engine to suit your needs. The entire range is designed to maximise efficiency and reliability whist minimising compressed air discharge temperatures with high efficiency coolers and separators. Maintenance downtime and ownership cost is reduced with quick and simple access to all components.
P.E.T. bottling
Producing quality P.E.T. plastic bottles reliably time after time is the motive behind the CompAir range of compressors for the P.E.T. bottling market
Designed to produce quality oil-free air at pressures up to 50 bar g (725 psig) the range is a perfect balance between utilising existing CompAir technology and enhanced components in the running gear and lower pressure stages, along with a series of unique developments in the high pressure third stage.
Providing high pressure at high performance demands and extreme tolerance to high temperature and wear. The CompAir solution incorporates state-of-the-art, high temperature PTFE composite piston rings and glands, together with a high pressure gland design which significantly improves operating life. The unique 'CD Ring' double acting piston ring provides a number of benefits compared to conventional designs such as increased volume flow, greater efficiency and increased life. Combine these design features with enhanced air cooling the CompAir package provides an intelligent air technology solution for P.E.T. bottle blowing applications.
Breathing air
The CompAir breathing air compressors have a strong reputation with fire brigades, dive schools commercial filling stations, military and navy alike. Incorporated into fully silenced cabinets and meeting all major world wide survey and certification requirements the CompAir breathing air quality exceeds BS EN 12021 and BS 4275. Optional integral or remote charging panels with independent charge and vent outlets can also be supplied.
The design has also been incorporated into portable crash frames for use in all environments where silencing is not a primary consideration. The rugged construction permits safe transportation allowing reliable operation without risk of damage. A full range of ancillary breathing air equipment including fill stations, air testers, filtration upgrades, dew point monitors and air storage facilities are also available.
